Seaman Alto E. Schmitt   

 (E3/Fireman Engineering) 

 

Enlisted in the U. S. Navy on May 19, 1951 and served on the USS Rogers. He was discharged on August 23, 1955.  


Seaman Schmitt was awarded the, Navy Good Conduct Medal, China Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Republic of Korean War Service Medal,  United Nation Service Medal

 
USS Rogers

 

Commissioned on March 26, 1945 and decommissioned on February 19, 1981. She was named for three brothers; Jack E. Rogers Jr., Charles E. Rogers, and Edwin K. Rogers killed in action onboard USS New Orleans (CA-32) during the Battle of Tassafaronga in the Solomon Islands on 30 November 1942.
