Brian Hilty

Brian L. Hilty, 49, of Kearney died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with the Rev. James DeLoach officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Burial will be later.

Visitation will be one hour before services.

He was born April 29, 1965, in Kearney to Philip and Sylvia (Hansen) Hilty.

Survivors include his partner, Renae Hoss and their son, Brady, of Kearney; mother and stepfather, Sylvia and Alton Schmitt of Kearney; father and stepmother, Philip and Pat Hilty of Kearney; sister, Kimberlee Smith and her husband, George, of Kearney; brother, Kevin Hilty and his wife, Laura, of Loup City; nephews and nieces, Nick and Nikki Potter, Kasey and Jessica Potter, Logan Potter, Shyanne and Tully Howell and Holly and Hope Smith; eight grandnieces and grandnephews; many cousins; and Renae’s parents, LeRoy Hoss of Kearney and Leonora Clark of Axtell.

He was baptized in 1965. He grew up in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 1984. He was a cook for several Kearney restaurants. He was an avid NASCAR fan and collected model NASCAR and Sprint cars. He also loved to collect Disney figurines.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mattie Hilty and Ronald and Gladys Hansen; and Renae’s grandmother, Julia Clark.

Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
