Frans August Carlson was born in Smaland, Sweden, January 21st, 1850, died Dec. 24th, 1922, age 2 years, 11 months and 3 days.He came to the United States in 1875 and made his home in Red Oak, Iowa, till in 1877 when he came to Nebraska and took a homestead on which he has lived ever since. He was one of the old settlers of Howard County.
He was married to Ingrid Nelson on August the 10th, 1888, to which union seven children were born, two daughters, who died in infancy the rest with their mother survive him, and are Frank, of Grand Island: Mrs. Huda Miller, of Omaha; Harry, Ema and Dave and one grandson, also four sisters, Mrs. Loise Benson, of Minneapolis, Minn; and Mrs. Julia Olstad of Fegus Falls, Minn.; Mrs. Wilhelmina Shalstrom and Mrs. Josephine Lindstrom both of Sweden.
For many years he has been in poor health, but during this long illness he sought and found Christ as his Savior, and was a firm believer in the Blood of Christ even to the end.
He was baptized and brought up in the Lutheran church. The funeral took place, Dec. 2th, 1922, from St. Peter’s church at Logan, where Rev. J. Magnussen officiated, assisted by Rev. Mohlin. The remains were laid to rest at St. Peter’s cemetery
May God comfort the wife and children and relatives of the dear father, who was a good husband and father, a good citizen, a good neighbor and an upright man in evert way. Death has now relieved him of his earthly sufferings.
