HENRY SONDERUP
Funeral services for Henry Sonderup were held in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Wolbach on Friday, October 29, 1965 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Leo R. Nielsen officiating.
The congregation sang, “Beautiful Savior”, Mr. Edwin Kolar, Edwin Kolar Jr., Francis Kolar and Roger Kolar sang “What a Friend we Have in Jesus” and “Children of the Heavenly Father”, accompanied by Mrs. Leo R. Nielsen, organist.
Pallbearers were Dale Sonderup, Virgil Stonestreet, Milton Enevoldsen, Robert Petersen, Gerald Oakeson and Merle Sonderup. Interment was in the North Logan Cemetery.
Jacobsen Funeral Home of St. Paul was in charge of the arrangements.
Henry Sonderup, son of Wilhelm and Elsie Sonderup was born May 15, 1888 near Wolbach. He departed this life on Tuesday morning, October 26, 1965 at the age of 77 years, five months and 11 days at the St. Paul Community Hospital.
Henry received his education in the rural schools and grew to manhood in the Wolbach area. He was united in marriage to Gurtie Pedersen in 1916 and to this union were born four daughters and a son. The couple farmed near Wolbach. Mrs. Sonderup died in 1924.
Mr. Sonderup was married to Eva Petersen on September 5, 1940 at Wolbach. The couple farmed in the North Logan area of Howard County until his retirement and continued to make their home on the farm.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Wolbach.
Survivors in addition to his widow include four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Hansen of Lewis, IA, Mrs. Agnetha Pennington of Alhambra, CA, Mrs. Lois Hansen of Dickson, Alberta, Canada and Mrs. Rhoda Christensen of Wolbach; three sisters, Mrs. Theodore Petersen and Mrs. Andrew Enevoldsen both of Dannebrog and Mrs. Emma Rasmussen of Cairo; one brother, Michael Sonderup of Blair; 24 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son and three brothers.
